About Wedworth Wadsworth

Wedworth Wadsworth was born on June 22, 1846 in Buffalo, New York. His father, James Wadsworth, had been born in their ancestral home in Durham, Connecticut. As a young boy, Wedworth spent his summers in Durham with relatives and through this connection developed a lifelong love for the town.

At a young age, he developed a passion for art. He became an accomplished artist in Brooklyn, New York, where he became a member of the Salmagundi Club of New York, the New York Water Color Club, the New York Black and White Club, and the Brooklyn Art Club.

Wadsworth was an accomplished author and illustrator as well. He wrote and illustrated "Leaves from an Artist's Field Book," illustrated "The Song of the Brook" by Alfred Tennyson, illustrated "A Winter's Walk with Cowper," illustrated "Under the Greenwood Tree with Shakespeare," and illustrated "Through Wood and Field with Tennyson."

Throughout his life, he spent many months in Durham, Connecticut, and this is where he died on October 21, 1926.
